Under-18 Indians Are Allowed To Play BGMI For 3 Hours; Adults Can Play For 6 Hours.
Earlier, they had announced the relaunch on May 19 which is almost a year after it was taken down under Section 69 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
If you are looking to download this game, it is available for download from May 27 for Android users and from Monday for iOS users.
Further, a notification from the company that appears on the app said, “Starting today, May 27th, Android users can now begin preloading your favorite game from the Google Play Store. Although the game can be played starting from May 29th, it is now ready for preloading. If you are unable to pre-load immediately, relax. Over the weekend, you’ll eventually get the option. As for iOS users, you can download and start playing the game on May 29th,”.
Another notification from the app which appeared on Monday said, “You can now download the game and begin playing starting today. However, to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for everyone, the game’s playability will be rolled out in phases”.
How Did This Happen?
It appears that the ban on this game has been lifted for 90 days.
During this time, the government is expected to review whether it is in compliance with Indian laws and decide whether to lift the ban permanently or block it again.After Karfton announced the relaunch, the minister of state for electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted, “This is a 3 month trial approval of #BGMI after it has complied with issues of server locations n data security etc. We will keep a close watch on other issues of User harm, Addiction etc in the next 3 months before a final decision is taken,”.
In this new update, Krafton has rolled out a 2.5 update for the game to bring a “refined and immersive experience for gamers”.
It is noteworthy here that the playtime for users under 18 will be restricted to three hours, whereas, for other players, it will be six hours daily to “promote responsible gaming practices” Krafton said.
Apart from this, the parental verification and daily spending limits for minors will continue to be a part of the game.
Earlier, during 2020, Player Unknown’s Battleground (PUBG) was banned by the central government along with 117 other apps with Chinese links.
During that time, the game was distributed by Chinese tech conglomerate Tencent in India. PUBG had around 33 million users in the country before this ban.
Krafton announced the launch of BGMI In May 2021 which was finally released on July 2, 2021 for Android devices and August 18 that year for search Apple's iOS devices.
It has managed to surpass 100 million registered users in just one year.
